Description
Nestled in Sydney’s southwest, Oran Park is a burgeoning suburb that was once expansive farmland. As the community evolved, so did its social landmarks—none more prominent than the newly completed Oran Park Hotel. Designed by Achiebiosis Architects, the venue harmonizes natural materials, organic forms, and modern hospitality. To enhance guest comfort across its expansive outdoor zones, Bromic Heating products were seamlessly integrated into the architectural vision.
A Natural Fit for a Raw, Earth-Inspired Design
Architect Edith Clark of Achiebiosis Architects explains that the design drew heavily from Oran Park’s pastoral roots. “We wanted the building to look like it was moulded from the earth—raw materials and natural forms were key,” she says. This design ethos required heating solutions that would either disappear into the space or serve as functional focal points, depending on the zone.
Bromic’s Platinum Electric heaters and Eclipse Pendant heaters were the clear choice. The Platinum models, installed on the Northern Terrace, Central Courtyard, and Rooftop Terrace, offer discreet performance that blends effortlessly with the environment. Meanwhile, the Eclipse Pendants doubled as sculptural lighting pieces—especially impactful in the soaring double-height Central Courtyard.

Overcoming Outdoor Challenges with Design Versatility
Designing heating for semi-enclosed and open-air areas with high ceilings and minimal structural mounting points posed unique challenges. “We had no ceiling structure in some areas, limited wall space in others, and needed to work around lighting, TV screens, and fans,” Clark notes.
Bromic’s adaptable mounting solutions—wall mounts and pole suspensions—proved essential. “The ability to use the same product line with different fixing types allowed us to maintain design consistency while adapting to each area’s needs,” Clark adds. In the Central Courtyard, the Eclipse Pendants were even custom-integrated with lighting fixtures, offering a multifunctional and aesthetically unified solution.

Creating Comfort Without Compromise
With outdoor areas ranging from the 36m x 11m Northern Terrace to the 28m x 15m Rooftop and Courtyard, heating coverage needed to be strategic. Working closely with Bromic representative Matt Kelman and Bromic’s Complimentary Design Service, the team developed a tailored heat plan that prioritized seated zones and perimeter heating to avoid cold spots.
“The Bromic team helped us position the units efficiently based on the performance limits of the heaters,” says Clark. “Their expertise meant we didn’t have to compromise design for function—we could achieve both.”
A Seamless Guest Experience
While the Oran Park Hotel has yet to receive direct guest feedback on the heating, the absence of complaints suggests the heaters are doing their job—quietly and effectively. For Clark and her team, the experience has solidified their trust in Bromic.
“Bromic offers a wide range of options and styles that suit almost any space. I’d definitely recommend them to other architects and clients.”
With Bromic’s smart-heating solutions, the Oran Park Hotel achieves more than just thermal comfort—it captures a sense of warmth that enhances the entire hospitality experience, indoors and out.
